Ingalls
Crossing
a farm bed and
breakfast
Williamstown,
Massachusetts
In
beautiful
rural Williamstown, a private apartment in our old family farmhouse -
especially
suited to any small family group or two couples traveling
together.
Just 1.9 miles from the center of Williamstown and Williams College, we
are within easy reach of all
that our lovely area and the entire Berkshire Hills, Southern Vermont
and Hudson Valley regions have to offer.
The farmhouse faces west
on
the eastern side
of the Green River Valley at the
base of Mount Williams, on seven hundred acres of splendid
farmland. Owned and operated by the Galusha
Family for five
generations, Fairfields Farm
remains one of the crown jewels of Williamstown.
The Ingalls Crossing
bed & breakfast apartment is located in the center of the
Fairfields working
dairy farm itself, in the old ell attached to our
house. If you have fond memories of a farm, you'll love
Ingalls Crossing.
Ingalls
Crossing is crooked, cozy, quaint - with old things to look
at and touch. It's not grand, but it is fun and
fresh. Upstairs
there
are two bedrooms. One has a queen bed and large adjoining
bathroom, and
the other has a double bed and private use of the small downstairs
bathroom.
The
remainder of
the downstairs consists of the common
sitting room
with local telephone, coffee and tea makers, a tiny refrigerator and an
old
cast iron sink - and of course the little dining
room,
where you will eat your breakfast. Make your own coffee
and tea when you get up, and leave the dishes for us. There are
no
cooking
facilities, but Williamstown has a wide variety of restaurants
to visit for lunch and dinner.
There
is a
private entrance and
driveway with
room
for two vehicles.
Continental breakfast
includes
juice, coffee,
tea, delicious hot breakfast breads (baked with our own milk and eggs),
yogurt or kefir,
cereal and fresh fruit.
Walk, run or mountain bike
on
our private farm road through many acres of carefully conserved and
spectacularly situated dairy farmland, with extensive vistas of the
valley
and the town.
Ingalls
Crossing is a
non-smoking
house, except in a limited area outdoors. With
so many animals, we are unable
to accommodate your furry friends, but your good little human
children are
always welcome. We have plenty of story books, and kids can feed
and pet our llama, ducks and
rabbit. If you will bring more than one child, you will be
required to rent both rooms - in our intimate cottage-like
space, this arrangement allows everybody to relax and not have to shush
the kids.
We offer a fun place to stay on a beautiful farm, but we don't allow
visitors to do chores or milk cows. As time and weather permit,
we will show you around a bit and give you walking directions so that
you can wander the farm - but in this day and age we can't allow you to
enter the actual operation, so don't plan on that.
Bring your bike, good walking shoes - and of course, your camera!

Ingalls
Crossing works very nicely
for college-seeking students and their parents. Our combination
of bedrooms and bathrooms gives everybody some "space", yet the family
is together in a private apartment.
